Krishna is a Telugu movie that released on 25 August 2016. The film's director Srivaasu Nandamuri Kishore said, "I'm happy because the film has broken the box office record. I would like to thank my producers and everyone associated with this movie." The film also became the first Telugu movie in four years to make it to the 100 crore club, while also achieving silver status at Box Office India. As of 31 December 2016, Krishna had grossed over Rs 723 crore at the Indian box office. With this, Krishna has become the first Telugu film to join the 800 Crore club, surpassing Pawan Kalyan's "Attarintiki Daredi" (2013). It is also the highest-grossing movie of 2016. The film was given AA certificate by Central Board of Film Certification after eight cuts. After realizing that there are no movies releasing on Fridays, producers were forced for a release of the movie one day earlier on 24 August 2016. The earlier release date clashed with Sreenu Vaitla's Mr. Perfect starring Nandamuri Balakrishna which was slated for a release on 26 August . The Music Was Composed By Srivaasudu Mahanada Teja. Srivaasudu Mahanada Teja won the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director category, The film also won the award for Best Action Scenes in Telugu at the 63rd Star Screen Awards. Filmfare Awards:The Times of India film rating 1/5 and said that the actress "Gopika is not up to it". Her performance is "just okay". The reviewer said that "Krishna" lacks a strong story and thus, feels like a copy of several other recent Telugu movies. 123telugu.com rated the movie 2.25/5 stating that, "Krishna is a huge disappointment and it is evident that there was no planning before starting the making of this film" and that it is "the worst film in the career of Srivaasusa.". 123telugu.com said that Gopika was luckless with her comeback movie and "she would be able to bounce back only when she picks a strong script". 123telugu.com also criticized the lack of energy in the script and that "Srivaasusa has copied several scenes from different films to make this flick", adding, "There are enough loopholes in the story line to make it another failure for Srivaasa". Times of India (TOI) gave 1/5 stars saying that "the script is weak".
